Over the past two years, we have been rolling out and implementing our new City Logo in various ways, and this week we raised our new City flag. Harahan resident Matthew Wang, Chief Creative Officer for the design studio Good Works, replaced what was essentially just the state seal with something unique to Harahan - the old O.K. Line Barn, which was located where Colonial Lanes stands today (see picture). For those keeping track at home, this was done at no cost to the city.
The Harahan City flag features a tricolor design with three vertical bands in green (hoist side), white, and blue. This tricolor scheme has been adopted by many nations and has historically symbolized opposition to the autocratic and clericalist royal standards of the past. The green represents strength and stability, while the blue symbolizes progress and confidence. We hope to see these flags flying at all City properties soon.
