Fire Prevention
The City of Harahan Fire Department proudly offers a fire prevention program that has been instituted to save lives and property within our coverage area. If you have any questions regarding fire safety issues or pre-incident planning, please contact us.
Pre-Incident Planning
Commercial
We conduct annual commercial structure preplanning. Information is collected regarding contacts, structural design and layout, occupancy hazards, fire load, utility types and location, hydrant proximity and flow rates. Resources and placement planning are reviewed and specific incident training is conducted.
Residential
Currently residential preplanning is limited to special needs individuals only. Preplans are done in the same manner as in commercial structures. It is our hope to be able to provide pre incident planning for all residences in the future.
Fire Prevention Talks and Drills
We perform fire drills multiple times per school year at all schools within Harahan. Fire Prevention talks are done for elementary level students upon request of the schools.
We also do adult level fire prevention talks for civic groups.
We offer station and unit tours for elementary schools and scouting groups.
